I’ve gone on time and time again about my dry skin and today I’m going to share some of my must have items when it comes to winter skincare.
First up we have the Skoon overnight mask. I bought a small sample at a Kamers last year and only really started getting into it this winter. I am so in love with this. I use it twice a week and my skin feels so soft and hydrated the next morning. Unfortunately my mini pot is nearing the end of its days so I’ll have to purchase the bigger pot ASAP. This is going to be a new staple in my skin care routine every winter.
Another winter favourite is the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Guys there’s a reason EVERYONE raves about this. It’s just so so good. This is my life saver whenever I travel and it’s a dream to use during winter. The best thing about this cream is the multiple uses it has. From cuticle oil to lip ice to a face barrier cream during flights. I love this and always have one handy in my bedside table.
My last winter favourite is the Clinique dark spot corrector. This is a miracle worker and I’ve gone through a couple bottles already. I love using this in winter because I feel like it’s my reboot and it gets rid of any dark spots I’ve collected during summer. It’s done a fantastic job of lightening my dark spots and I now use it on a need to use basis or when a new friend has joined my face.

There are tonnes of products out there and I’ve purchased my fair share but if I had to choose my go to products then these would be it. These are the products I reach for and wear most of the time.
I have a pretty simple look and only switch it up with lips or heavier eyes, otherwise these are my basics…
I’m not a huge foundation lover as I prefer to keep things very sheer and light on my face. So, it’s odd that my all-time favourite foundation is a rather heavy one, which by the way is great for dry skin. I picked this up in Sephora overseas and I have been in love with it ever since. This is the BEST foundation for photos, my skin always looks amazing and ‘airbrushed’. I use it with a beauty blender for a sheerer look and when I feel like looking super done up, I use a stippling brush. I cannot wait to encounter another Sephora just so that I can pick up a few more of these.
I love a 5-minute face and this product is perfect for that, I use this on my cheeks and lips and find it glides on super easily. Although it’s not the longest lasting product it sure is the quickest and easiest and for that reason I reach for it almost every single day.
I found the Revlon skin lights in a sale basket at Dischem one day and thought I would give it a go. How I now wish I had purchased a few of them (I don’t think you can find these very easily) I love tapping some of this onto my cheek bones for a gorgeous bronzy glow. If I’m not feeling the ‘bronzed ‘look then my other favourite is this limited edition MAC highlighter. It the most beautiful soft subtle pink and you can go quite heavy handed with this but still look only glowy and not like a disco ball.
These are my favourite day highlighters and ones that I alternate with every day. I always think one needs tiny bit of highlighter just to look dewy and fresh.
Finally, my favourite mascara, I’m not really an experienced mascara purchaser. I’ve found items I really love and just stuck with them. My sister introduced me to this a couple of years ago and I literally wear this every single week day. The best part of this is how easily it comes off. I hate having to really wash my eyeballs to try not look like a raccoon the next day. All you need is warm water and it easily slides off in tubes. It’s not the most intense and fulling mascara out there but for every day wear it is simply the BEST.
Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate, hope you have a lovely long weekend with your family.

Whenever I travel, I try my best to only pack the essentials and bare minimum.
David and I usually share a large suitcase (Gasp I know) but we make it work, okay he really makes it work by packing pretty much nothing and I… well I try.
Regardless of the destination, I always have ‘the essentials’. Today I’m going to share those with you along with some tips and tricks I have learned along the way.
Always try on and prepare all outfits before your trip.
This might sound like a total mission but trust me it is one of the best things you can do! I’m one of those annul travelers who has their itinerary set out to the minute 6 months before departure, so I make sure that each outfit is relevant for that day’s activities. This has really helped with packing light. My general rule of thumb is 4 bottoms (2 jeans and 2 skirts/shorts), 2 dresses, 2-3 tops per bottom, 3 pairs of shoes and one small shoulder bag.
Dependent on destination, my colours would all be pretty neutral to ensure I can mix and match items.
Check the weather a week in advance
Weather is unpredictable and the last thing you want is a bag full of shorts and freeze your whole trip.
Check the weather just before your trip then readjust your wardrobe if needed. I usually add the location onto my I phone weather app a month in advance and take a look at the weekly forecasts to get an idea of weather changes.
Never pack heavy or delicate items in your check in
Guys I cannot tell you the amount of times I promise myself my hat will be okay if I stuff it up enough or pack it a certain way. It doesn’t work. Don’t do it, I repeat… don’t do it. Rather wear it on your flight and store it under the seat in front of you.
Always take one really warm jacket/jersey and wear this during your flight. Not only will it keep you super cozy and warm but if needed on your trip you have one on hand. This will take up way too much necessary space in your checked in luggage.
Regardless of where I’m off to, I always have the following skin care basics with me
I have been a major Kiehl’s fanatic and I love their ultra range of products, you only need the smallest amount of this for a foamy clean wash.
I use this as my day moisturiser and it’s amazing, I have terribly dry skin and this is the perfect ‘light’ but really moisturising item for everyday use.
I prefer this as my night time moisturiser as it’s a bit thicker in consistency and the slightest bit more moisturising.
My last Kiehl’s holy grail is the micro peel. Guys this is the bomb digiddy. This has been one of the BEST items I own.It really works in clearing up my skin and keep it looking fresh.I use this about 3 times a week and will never travel without it.
I always travel with this baby and slather it on my face as soon as i get onto any flight. It really helps with keeping my skin hydrated. I reapply this throughout the flight and apply a really thick layer when im ready for sleep.
MAC Face and Body, Revlon Photoready skinlights, The Body Shop lip and cheek velvet stick, Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, Clinique High impact curling mascara, Essence Make me Brow
My make up routine is always simple when travelling.
I only carry the basics; foundation, highlighter, blush (that can be used as lip colour), a brighter coloured lip stain, my brows, mascara and last but not least eyeliner.
If I know im going somewhere where i want to look a bit more dolled up then I usually take my Stila in the light palette.
