D.I.Y Lamp

You know when you shop around forever for the simplest of white lamps? Yea I know all about that.

It seems like the most basic item is never ever around when I look.

So the answer? spray paint. Yup just a good old slap of white paint and you good to go.

I found this massive lamp on sale at Mr Price for a mere R200 but it was grey and I thought enough is enough, this is GOING to be my next lampshade.

I’m so happy with the outcome and I definitely will keep spray paint in mind if something else catches my eye in the future.

Materials:

White primer

White spray paint (unless of course you have been endlessly searching for some other colour)

Start with your clean base and gently give it a light sand over with paper. I really didn’t give it much sanding and its stuck really well.

I used about 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of spray paint. This alone finished both bottles.

I would suggest leaving about 30-40 minutes in between each coat.

Leave for a couple of hours to dry after last coat before handling.

I chose not to use a top coat as I didn’t want something shiny.

There you have it, such a simple and effective solution to my world ending dilemma.

DIY: Honey Lip Exfoliator

Friday, August 21st, 2015

During these dryer times, lips are more chapped and dry which is not pretty,it’s so important to keep your lips soft and hydrated by exfoliating them.

This is a super quick and easy DIY and your lips will thank you for it

You will need:

1 tbs sugar

1 tbs honey

½ tsp olive oil

½ tsp Vaseline

Container

Method:

  1. Mix all ingredients together and store in an air tight container. I like to triple the quantities to keep me going for longer. You can also add different essentials oils to twist it up.

Gently rub a small amount onto your lips once a week and follow up with a thick layer of lip balm. I love to smear on Blistex DCT Daily Conditioning Treatment. You will wake up to super soft kissable lips.
